Finals week is when a care package means the most. The trick is sending the right things and making sure it arrives before the first exam.
What finals week looks like
Late nights, long library sessions, and a lot of vending-machine meals. A good finals box gives your student the opposite: real fuel, a little comfort, and a reminder that someone at home is cheering for them.
What to include
- Fuel: filling snacks that fit in a backpack, plus coffee or tea.
- Hydration: electrolyte packets help on long study days.
- Focus helpers: highlighters, sticky notes and earplugs for noisy dorms.
- Comfort: something soft or soothing for the post-exam crash.
- A note: even two handwritten lines. This is the part they keep.
The ready-made version
Our Finals Survival kit covers all of it: instant coffee, hydration packets, snack bars, almond packs, a study set, a stress ball, blue-light glasses and earplugs.

When to ship
Aim for the package to arrive about a week before finals begin. Check your student's exam schedule, the campus mailroom hours, and whether packages go to a dorm desk or a central mail center.
If they're sick instead of stressed
Cold season often hits right before exams. A get-well box with soup, tea, tissues and a cozy blanket can be the better call.
